Celebrating the Bounty of New England Farmers and Fishermen
NEWPORT, R.I., May 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Wayfinder Newport’s restaurant will re-open June 5 with a reimagined concept that showcases New England’s rich seaside heritage. Little Clam, nestled within the freshly renovated hotel, offers an immersive culinary experience that celebrates Rhode Island’s farmers, fishermen, and artisans.
The restaurant’s name honors the humble yet iconic clam — a cornerstone of the region’s culinary traditions and a symbol of its enduring connection to the sea. Under the direction of Dovetail & Co. consulting chef Jake Rojas and executive chef Antonio Wormley, the menu will feature local seafood, seasonal produce, and artisanal products sourced from nearby waters and farms.
Wormley, a Johnson & Wales alum, brings over a decade of experience shaped by his New England roots, cross-country culinary journey, and a commitment to seasonal, sustainable ingredients. Rojas, a celebrated local chef with pedigree from Joël Robuchon and Alain Ducasse, is known for his bold, creative interpretations of regional flavors and a soulful approach to coastal cuisine. Their combined vision for Little Clam is rooted in a deep respect for Rhode Island’s food systems.
At the heart of the menu are responsibly sourced seafood and seasonal vegetables. Highlights include Rhode Island Walrus and Carpenter oysters, a Blackbird Farm burger, and Hopkins Southdowns lamb. Bright, produce-led snacks and shareable plates will rotate with the seasons, celebrating the fleeting freshness of New England’s coastal harvest. The beverage list complements the menu with classic and house cocktails, New England spirits, and a focused list of local brews.
“Little Clam captures everything we love about Rhode Island — its spirit, its flavors, and its sense of community,” said Wormley. “Every dish is a conversation with the people behind the ingredients—oyster farmers, foragers, and family-run farms who make Rhode Island so dynamic. We’re excited to open our doors and share the stories that inspire every dish.”
Little Clam’s design reflects its surroundings with a relaxed, contemporary aesthetic that blends coastal minimalism and warmth—earth tones, sea blues, and natural textures flow from the 161-seat dining room into a lounge-style solarium and outdoor patio. Guests can also enjoy cocktails at the bar or gather for weekend brunch and daily breakfast. The space is available for private events.
Little Clam is one of three food-and-beverage outlets at Wayfinder Newport. The Café offers coffee by local favorite Nitro Bar and all-day provisions, while the Poolshack brings frozen cocktails and casual fare to the hotel’s outdoor spaces.
